Final prize for the 4 years of slogging. Yes, Convocation ceremony.
As always even at this event my college is different from all the affiliated colleges. Every weekend since the start of April we have all been waiting for a mail regarding our convocation date but all we got to see was the convocation pictures of all the other affiliated colleges and like their pictures. With the pass of time there wud be rumours as to it being the next weekend and after and it never came. April ended and may started with more guesses and rumours. Finally there comes the awaited email and it says your convocation is on a weekday - attend without fail. I mean who even does that? To top that it is also in the middle of the 5 day work week = Wednesday!
Triggering a feed(FB) full of curses from the students of all the departments , but it is still the one thing after college everyone was looking fwd to. since it means meeting people whom you thought you wont ever meet after the last day of college and meeting everyone under the college roof for one last time.(yes there may be alumni meets but face it noone attends them, people think they are too cool for it and that the management may end up asking us for money when we do meet). Anna university has this weird way of having the graduation ceremony only after a year. So it has been a year or more since classmates, friends met under the college roof. Few people and close ones we might have met often/ rarely after that day but many of whom we would/ woudnt have thought about as to what happened to them.
Lot of surprises, may be a few shocks all these emotions one can find at this event! Just a graduation who cares one might think but it certainly means a lot to me. We can meet anywhere else we can plan to meet wherever we want , whenever we want, but that college under the sun in that auditorium treated equally as passouts- this is going to be the last time that feeling will ever come.
4 years of college , every corridor will have its own story for each and every student! walking together in and out of that place where we spent most of our time having fun, pulling each other's legs, getting punished, having a hard time, supporting, defending, fighting, offending , loving and what not. 4 years of college unforgettable for many reasons for each of us, will always stay etched in our memories.
Revisting those memories might be painful for some, happy for some but its all a part of the game of life!
Again, college strikes by keeping our convocation as the last among the affiliated colleges and in the middle of the week, thereby many people wont turn up, people from out station might not be able to take that many days of leave. Despite all these reasons i want the most to turn up for this event. Gonna be once in ur lifetime the first convocation - Engineering and ll. So without just giving reasons even if it s really stupid, do turn up.
You might not realise who might be waiting to see you or what might be in store this day.
May be i saw too many movies and have high expectations :P But stil however bad it might turn out when your close ones are around it doesnt matter does it? Your parents are proud of you that day even if they dont express it explicitly. Blessings and best wishes are in order.
Not for the chief guest, not for the ranks, but one last time for friendship's sake, just for being together to savour that moment and to share.
I wish everyone can make it. Awaiting the day- May 29 2013- graduation batch 2012.
For now we have all registered for the graduation after the numerous everyday reminders!
More on what actually happened after the day is done :)
